Myth: There are too many people to feed.

warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/hungermovement/www/includes/common.inc(1199) : eval()'d code on line 9.
Truth: Contrary to popular belief, overpopulation is not the cause of hunger.

It's usually the other way around: hunger is one of the real causes of overpopulation. The more children a poor family has the more likely some will survive to work in the fields or in the city to add to the family's small income and, later, to care for the parents in their old age.

All this points to the disease that is at the root of both hunger and overpopulation: The powerlessness of people who must rely on food that is grown and distributed by wealthy people who have never felt hunger pangs, yet who determine how the land will be used, if at all and who will benefit from its fruits. High birth rates are symptoms of the failures of a social system — inadequate family income, inadequate nutrition and health care and old-age security. More myths about global hunger

Margareta- Well, now I'm in usa, but my native country is in the south-est of Europe. There, there are only a few very rich people and the population is starving and it is frustrated, because, now, after a very bloody revolution, the common people are still suffering!!! After all, I decided with a part of my family to emigrate in USA.Unfortunately, the promblems are almost the same like in my native town. So, what I gained and what I lost?!

exactly ! but if everyone here is willing to help, then ofcourse we can change our society ! i for once, accept that my country hasn't got very loyal leaders, but they're not so bad i think to keep all the resources to themselves. if everyone makes petitions, and peacefull rallies and stuff, i do think the world can become a better place ! :) what do you guys think ? Margareta- Do you think that petitions, peaceful rallies and stuff(as you say)are enough to keep attention on the major earth's problems? Well,my opinion is that the real force consist in people's strength to be together.Every person on the world have to have a willing to help the others. Unfortunately,it hasn't come that time, yet! Let's hope for the future...

Margareta The problems of the poor people,by my opinion, is one of the entire earth's population. The poor countries don't have loyal leaders, who need to make everything for their nation. If they will understand their power and love their country, they will do the right actions to save it from all the hardships. But the leaders, once they are in the government, they think only about their families and their own interests.
